1. Tea tree oil for facial skincare and cleansing

Tea tree oil is the ideal essential oil for oily, blemished, and acne-prone skin, as it helps control sebum production and effectively deep cleanses the skin. Our soap bars, designed for blemished facial skin, are highly recommended for skin that needs thorough cleansing without drying it out.

You can also use a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with argan oil, creating an elixir that tackles blemishes while also hydrating the skin. The oil's anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and swelling.

For acne-prone skin, tea tree oil is nearly the best option. When used regularly, it helps prevent blemishes and excess oil production.

2. Tea tree oil for body care and aromatherapy

The antibacterial properties of tea tree oil make it an excellent alternative for controlling body odors, and many people add a drop or two to homemade deodorants.

On the body, tea tree oil works much like it does on the face: it deeply cleanses, reduces skin oiliness and greasiness, and effectively fights against the formation of impurities. Many teenagers or those struggling with hormonal acne enhance their shower routines with a Tea Tree soap bar.

Tea tree oil can also be used as an insect repellent during the summer. Simply add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to a carrier oil, such as argan oil, and apply it to your skin before heading out into mosquito-prone areas.

In aromatherapy, tea tree oil is known for its stress-relieving and purifying properties, often recommended to be used in a diffuser or aroma lamp, especially during cold and flu season. It’s considered an immune-boosting oil, and due to its ability to destroy bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi, it is also used as a first-aid oil for various ailments, including yeast infections, athlete’s foot, inflamed wounds, dandruff, cold sores, warts, acne, colds, and coughs.

 3. Tea tree oil for hair care

An itchy scalp and oily, flaky hair roots will greatly benefit from the regular use of tea tree oil. The Tea Tree shampoo bar helps extend the time between washes while controlling scalp oiliness and itching. You can also add a few drops of tea tree essential oil to your natural shampoo for added effectiveness.

4. Bonus tip: tea tree oil for household use

Tea tree essential oil is also an excellent tool for household cleaning. A simple mix of water, vinegar, and tea tree oil creates a natural and air-purifying cleaner for your home!

5. Safe use of tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is not meant for internal consumption, and 100% essential oil should always be diluted in a carrier oil, such as argan or jojoba oil. Flow Cosmetics' ready-to-use tea tree oil products are safe to use as they are.

6. Tea and tea tree are not the same!

Despite their similar names, the tea plant and tea tree are two completely different plants, although they share some similar effects. Tea tree oil is not intended for internal use and has been found to be more effective than tea plant extracts in treating blemished skin.

If you're specifically interested in the skin-healing properties of the tea plant, we recommend trying our Green Tea & Peptide Eye Cream.

Tea Tree Essential Oil Usage Recipes:

  • Diluted in carrier oil for face and body: For smaller areas like pimples and blemishes, you can use a stronger 10% solution by mixing 9 parts carrier oil (e.g., argan or jojoba oil) with 1 part tea tree essential oil. This equals 9 drops of carrier oil and 1 drop of tea tree oil. If making a 10ml dropper bottle, measure 1ml (about 20 drops) of tea tree oil and 9ml of carrier oil. The mixture will last about two months.

  • In massage/body oils: Add 6-10 drops of tea tree essential oil to 30ml of your preferred carrier oil.

  • For hair and scalp care: For an oil treatment, use a 1-2% concentration of tea tree oil. Massage into hair and scalp, cover with a plastic cap, and leave on for at least one hour before washing thoroughly.

  • In steam inhalation: Boil 1-2 liters of water, add a few drops of tea tree oil, and place a towel over your head to trap the steam. Breathe deeply. Note: Remove the pot from the stove to avoid burns, or pour the water into a basin if preferred. Inhalers are also available for this purpose.

  • In a compress: Add a few drops of tea tree oil to hot water, soak a face towel, wring it out, and place the warm towel on your face. Relax and enjoy the soothing effects. You can also apply this to your body.

  • In a bath or sauna: For a bath, add 6-10 drops for adults. For children, use half the amount. To mix essential oils in a bath, dissolve them first in a small cup of fatty milk or cream before adding them to the tub. Wait until the bath is fully drawn before adding the oil to prevent evaporation from running hot water.

  • In sauna steam: Add 2-5 drops of tea tree oil to your sauna's steam bucket.

  • In a diffuser: Add 4-10 drops of tea tree essential oil to a diffuser, depending on the room size.

  • In a cleaning spray: For a cleaning spray, mix water with 10 drops of tea tree oil in a spray bottle. Shake well before use.

  • In laundry: For a fresh scent, add a few drops of tea tree oil to the rinse cycle along with water, laundry vinegar, or unscented fabric softener. Alternatively, drop it directly onto soap nuts.
